Blue Shark Vodka isn’t just a distillery with a coastal Carolina soul—it’s a spirited leader in marine conservation. Since its founding in 2019, the company has woven ocean stewardship into its mission, funding research and education projects that safeguard the Atlantic’s most misunderstood predators: sharks.
The Atlantic Shark Institute Partnership
One of Blue Shark Vodka’s flagship philanthropic collaborations is with the Atlantic Shark Institute (ASI), a nonprofit renowned for its cutting-edge shark research in the northwest Atlantic. This ongoing partnership has supported conservation missions, shark tagging initiatives, and—in a pioneering move—BRUVS (Baited Remote Underwater Video System) deployments.

What Is BRUVS?
BRUVS are innovative devices that use cameras and bait to attract and record sharks in their natural environments. They offer scientists an unobtrusive window into shark populations, diversity, and behavior. The footage collected from BRUVS fuels critical findings about shark habitats and their vulnerability to population decline.

From June through October 2025, ASI aims to complete 10 BRUVS deployments to collect over 60 hours of underwater video—data that will help shape future conservation strategies for sharks in the Atlantic.
